February Quiltathon update
No pictures today. I didn't think a plain white top for the 5th graders would take very well. I'll show you more when it comes back to me. I got 120 HSTs done for Judy's Bear in the Farmhouse quilt project. I will get 72 more done this week and squared up. Have a great day!

Judy's Quiltathon Day 2
Good Morning! I didn't get as much done yesterday as I'd hoped. My BF had car trouble and I had to run for parts and wait while he was working on putting in a new fuel pump. So his sister and I went to get the pump and to the fabric store for my white fabric that will be sewn into 8 inch blocks for the fifth graders. Today my BF left the house at 4:30 a.m. to deliver a load of fertilizer. He's a truck driver. So while he's gone I'll sew. He'll be getting back home around noon and then we will have to finish the fuel pump installation. He hates to work on vehicles so it takes him awhile. He tries to shortcut in areas where he shouldn't and then it ends up taking much longer.
Yesterday, I sewed more of the 192 HSTs and this morning I squared them up. I've read all the blogs I follow and have gotten my taxes out to do. Maybe that will wait.
Today, more HSTs and 30 8 inch white blocks to be sewn together. Talk to you later!

Judy's Quiltathon Feb Day 1
I'm going to attempt to quilt this weekend and have decided to post my progress. I have a busy Saturday already in store for me. So far, here is my progress. I have started with the half square triangles for Judy's Bear in the Farmhouse. And here is a portion of the half square triangles in process. 192, wow, will I ever get done? Yes, maybe not today, but for sure by next week.
I also have made a committment to help a 5th grade class make a quilt for an auction they are having. The kids are making appliques that go on a background of white 8 inch blocks. I found out I don't have any white, so while I'm doing an errand today, I will pick up some white fabric for their quilt project. Picture to come later.

Juldy's Quiltathon
I decided to participate in my first quiltathon. It looks like a great way to have a new quilt but a better way to keep at it. I start lots of projects but get bored so I have to start another. I have a closet full of tops completed and one I took back from my niece so I could put a new binding on. I almost have that done. Boy, she'll be tickled to get it back. She has loved that quilt to death. I do think that when I give it back to her, I will include a bottle of Quilt Wash. I started giving a bottle of it with every quilt I gave away.
So about the Quiltathon. Here are the fabrics I chose:

Are You a Valentine's Baby?
Happy Birthday to all of you that share Valentine's Day. My mom is a Valentine's baby. I found out that my girlfriend's dad also shares this day as does a coworker. So I thought it appropriate to wish all of you Valentine babies a Happy Birthday!

Block of the Month Club
I have taken a Block of the Month Club (BOM) for 6 years now. I have finished all the tops but have yet to get them quilted. I need to because I WANT to use them! In January, we started another BOM club. This one is a lesson on how to quilt as you go. I hope it's not a lot of handsewing. I don't mind handsewing but I don't want to do the whole quilt that way. I'm taking this class because I want to know how to do it and learn something new. We meet once a month, the second Saturday of each month at a quilt shop (Pioneer Quilts) in Damascus, OR. I really like the instructor because I now travel almost 90 miles round trip to take it. Yes, I've taken classes at other shops closer, but this gal, Jolyn, is the best. She's supportive, upbeat, and personable. Want a look at my January block? Then I'll show you the Hanky Panky block that will be the alternating block for this queen sized quilt. Each of her BOM block are 9 1/2 inches square. All the BOMs have a block sashing. This year I decided to go with Jolyn's fabric choices for the blocks but thought I would make the quilt a little more consistent. I love my colors. What do you think? This time I think I'll even make pillowcases and some shams to go with it.
"Wampum" is the name of the block with the star block setting. "Panky Panky" it the setting block. Do you like my colors?
