Granola

Yesterday I made Granola because I've been craving it.  I had gone to the store the week before and got some of the ingredients I needed.  I like going to this one store because I can purchase in bulk.  It really saves $.

Here's how I make it:
I forgot to show the oatmeal.

I mix the oats, raisins, cherries, nuts, coconut on a baking sheet and bake it for about 20 minutes turning once.  While that's baking, I mix the butter, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar and heat till it's melted.
After the first baking, add the melted mixture and toss.  Place back in the oven for 10 minutes turning once.  I let mine cool on a wax paper lined tray.

Enjoy!

Nothing Better Than Soup

Nothing's better than a hot bowl of soup on a dreary day.  I was reading blogs this week and saw that Ree from PW was having of few of her blog friends showcase a couple of her recipes from her new cookbook.

I got this recipe from Bev Cooks' blog.  Chicken Tortilla Soup.   I added corn and a half can of green chilis.  This soup was great.  I'll be making it again.

Click on either Bev Cook's or the Soup for the recipe.

Who Wants A Cookie?

So I ask Facebook what kind of cookies I should make today.  I didn't get any responses.  Must mean they don't like cookies.  I can't imagine.  Well, I made peanut butter cookies with peanuts.  They turned out

delicious!

Design Wall 3-05-2012

I didn't get too much accomplished on my son's quilt this week or last.  I did get a couple of rows sewn together.  My son did come over the other day and he's cool with the design and my intentions for the back of the quilt.

The back of the quilt will have the Crown Royal bags with some sashing in a purple flannel.  My son wants as much of the bags in the back as possible.  One comment a couple of weeks ago mentioned I probably need to fuse the backs of the bags to make them a little sturdier.  I will probably do this and also fuse the sashing in order for the back to be all over sturdier.  Of course the bags won't be the whole bag but enough of the bag in order to make a block.

Is that a Chicken egg?

We gather eggs everyday around 4:30pm.  On weekends Doug usually gathers them for me.  Last night he came in and said "I think we have a Guiness record in the basket"  I looked and I didn't see anything unusual and remarked that none of them looked huge to me.  He pointed ---  Guniess for the smallest egg.

So I grabbed the camera and took a couple of pictures.

What's the smallest egg you have ever gathered?  Post a picture.  I'm really interested now.
