Design Wall Monday 3-11-2013

I haven't been posting lately for one reason or another, BUT I have been sewing.

I viewed a tutorial by Missouri Star Quilts a while back and decided to make the quilt. It's called Periwinkle. I used some leftover batiks.
I like it so far but cutting the triangle with their papers looked easy.  Putting the triangles together doesn't work so well.  I'm also looking at the squares and they didn't allow for  a quarter inch seam allowance on the points.  I think all my points will be cut off.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do at this point.

Still working on my Get It Done projects.  DW jean quilt is ready to tie.  I need to look up on Google how to tie a square knot.

Jana's Bears In the Farmhouse quilt is on the longarm.  I'm getting there but the weather has been so lovely the last few days, I been spending it outdoors....with the chickens.

She Thinks She's a Sparrow

The other day, like many days, the girls get out of their run.  We've tried to fence them out, but they always find the hole in the fence or the weakest link.  They root up everything they come in contact with.  My tulips probably won't make it this year.  They just love the soft earth to take their dust baths in and to find the tastiest morsel.

You know the saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"  well that's a couple of my girls.  Here's Jana, thinking she's a sparrow.  There were two of them up them but I didn't get the picture snapped in time.

Who Can Resist?

Nice lush, green, tender grass....who can resist?  Certainly not these characters...
There they are circling to see if it;s safe.
Well, these guys think it's safe..

 Let's take another look....

Ok, I'm game...

Here comes the landing....landings...

And... a short time later the farmer came out and dispersed a shot and POOF, they were all gone.

A Little Spring Work

A couple of weekends ago, Doug was outside tearing through the yard getting chores done.  He trimmed the  pear, cherries, and apple trees.

My favorite tree.  It's looks like the Serengetti in my backyard.

Then he went to attack the Red Hot Pokers.  Usually we clean up the Pokers in the spring, getting out all the dead leaves,  Last year we, I say we, but I really mean he took the chainsaw to them.  It worked out great.  So he decided to do it again.  Makes fast work for this chore.

All that was left was raking up the mess.
